I guess one of the major concerns that the indibloger guys need to figure out is a way to generate a revenue stream. Unless they plan to quit their day jobs to invest full fledgedly into the company, something I think they do wish to, cash is a problem they really need to look into.

i agree with some of the points u said about indiblogger.

during the delhi meet of the indiblogger, we were promised that the list of attendees will be uploaded. also there was not any official record of the events until they linked to my record of events.

looks like, they are content with their present image – of being a directory of blogs and hosting occasional blog meets. but they will soon have to take up a more professional role (who knows the other day a competitor comes up). they will need to bring the industry on to the same platform as individual bloggers. while this will help bridge the relationship between corporations and blogging community, this will also source some revenue for indiblogger.

Thanks Shayon. I’m glad that you liked the site. We have not had any offline meets as yet, though we were associated with a blogger meet a few months earlier. It would really be nice to have a review, since you seem to really research and write a detailed useful review. Thanks once again for replying.

Well, I believe, you can earn money even when you sleep. One just needs to be indigenous in his thoughts, that is all Probably I can comment much better on that only after I attend at least one of the meets of yours. By the way, if you have been organizing meets even before I had even heard of a blog, how come you never managed to expand out of Delhi? Or did you never even consider that?

regarding your comment abt “not many” .. I agree, It’s a rare thing but not entirely extinct , not many do. However since I happen to be doing it myself to some extent, I thought the same about indiblogger. I am the founder of DBB.. and though we arent a “registered association”, keeping it alive and kicking since 4.5 years, organising meets, events, social media & blog camps, which do not give me any monetary returns, take my time, resources and of course some expenses – is what I thought indiblogger was upto as well. So far I have not given a thought to any business model. Any thoughts on that?

And yes, you are most welcome to meet us up when you are in Delhi next.

Dear Twilight Fairy,

Firstly, not many on this earth shall wish to work their ass off just for the kicks of it and even fewer would do it while spending off their own back.

As for IndiBlogger’s strategy, the best I can understand it, they first wish to garner the trust and authority that it requires before they plan to devise any revenue model. Earning the green might not be their top priority right now, but once they manage to envisage the full potential, they shall surely move in fast for the kill.

By the way, thanks a lot for letting me know about the Delhi Bloggers’ Bloc. Although it shall be a long shot to hope that I might travel all the way for a meet but if such an opportunity does knock at the door of my convenience, I shall be more than eager to be a participant.

Is indiblogger a startup? I felt they are doing it just because, well for the fun of it. A startup is focussed on earning, isnt it? Instablogs is surely one. Although not all India based, but there is a Delhi bloggers group which formed on 13th Jan 2004 (again for the fun of it - it's not a startup), after the first bloggers meet in Delhi. More here.
