ACKMedia which acquired Amar Chitra Katha the brand from India Book House (IBH) for an undisclosed amount will be launching its flagship site amarchitrakatha.com at 11 am at Nehru Planetarium in Mumbai by Mr. Anant Pai, the founder-editor on his 79th birthday.

WATBlog got a sneak peak at the website a day before its launch. Below is the screenshot:

One look at the screenshot above and you know that the site involves elements of User generated content and ecommerce. At the time of the acquisition of Amar Chitra Katha it was announced by ACK Media that they will focus on developing original content and products and making them available in multiple formats including print, DVDs, online services, games, TV and film. The first two phases of this strategy involved strengthening its distribution and then creating an online destination which would drive online sales as well.

ACK Media has geared up for this expansion and has set aside 15-20 million dollars to invest in the brands that it has acquired. It recently also acquired an animation company in Quietmen Studios which was renamed Katha Studio’s to give life to their animation and gaming forays with the brand.

WATBlog shall be attending the launch of Amarchitrakatha.com tomorrow so if anyone has any questions for ACKMedia do send them to us.
