Citywide WiFi Planned by BMC in a 50-Crore Plan For Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has brought forward a plan, which, if implemented, would allow anyone to use WiFi on their compatible laptops or mobile phones. This initiative by the BMC is a public-private partnership of sorts, in which the BMC plans to cover the entire city with WiFi coverage, albeit not free.

Facebook ropes in Mozilla VP & installs Live Search, while clearing off a few Controversies

While still largely lagging behind Google and Yahoo with the market share and the search rankings, Microsoft yesterday announced that it had expanded its deal with Facebook and will now be integrating its Live Search right into the popular social network. Microsoft already has a 1.6% stake in Facebook which it bought at $240 million while valuing Facebook at a whopping $15 billion.

RBI Tries to Introduce Norms for Mobile Banking – Cashless Society 2.0?

 

It all started with RBI suddenly realizing the importance & wide array of applications of mobile banking and planned to start working on operative norms! Reliance Communications laps up $ 500 million from EDC, Canada – Will it help improve their services now?

 

Reliance Communications has been upbeat about sprucing up its GSM services for a long time, now. After making SMART’s, its GSM network, presence felt in the eastern and central zone, Reliance has been looking to expand to the rest of the country in a big way. RCom receiving a loan of $ 500 million from EDC Canada, in addition to the $ 750 million the Anil Ambani firm had loaned from China Development Bank.

The newly formed Accel India Ventures would also be managed by Subrata Mitra, Prashanth Prakash, Mahendran Balachandran and Gagan Kumar who were earlier the partners at Erasmic Venture Partners.
