Web 18 Revamps Moneycontrol.com – In.com Integrated In New Layout

So finally moneycontrol.com has got a new face, that means they must had done customer survey before changing it to Web 2.0 look (use of ajax, curved corners etc..). The moneycontrol.com was one of the first websites dedicated to investments, stocks and other markets news. Moneycontrol.com is an online property of Web 18, heavily funded & the most popular one.

 Revamped look

With new design, Web 18 has incorporated following features:

  1. CNBC TV 18 matrix which can provide real time data
  2. Proper placement of ads, less than earlier one but perfectly placed
  3. New feedback & make this your home buttons are available on the top
  4.  A drop down site overview in content view
  5. Improved navigation throughout the site with the help of aids such as Quicklinks
  6. Properly tabbed current news section with better sleek and really clean interface
  7. A new portfolio manager sponsored by reliance money
  8. New character Mr. Moneywiz (uncle type look) for advise purpose
  9. Cross linked story pages, so that user get all related information – be it news items, interviews, brokerage reports, corporate announcements, stock data, comments from the community or videos – alongside each article, this will help new users to find what they want easily and more intuitively.

Also in.com is being promoted on Moneycontrol.com homepage gives the indication of the larger things to come form web18. Over time web18 plans to integrate all its portals in a way so that there is cross vertical traction and each portal benefits from the others focus. in.com could be the center of this cross vertical traction which could also mean future integration of Cricketnext.com, Josh18.com, Compareindia and in.com could be the perfect place for users to access all their favourite music, cricket, finance etc.

In short, we liked this revamp as its focus is more on site visitors than the advertisers. Earlier there were too many advertisement on front page which affected the user experience. This new layout takes care of this earlier problem though it’s interesting to see how it affects their revenue number given less weightage to advertisers.
