Zapak Enters Mobile Gaming, Launches Zapak.mobi for Java Based Games
Zapak, the immensely popular gaming site from the house of Reliance Entertainment has just launched Zapak.mobi, a mobile gaming site for all the mobile aficionados out there.

The site, which is directly accessible via GPRS, has been optimized for mobile browsers found on most handsets in the market these days and the games have been designed for handsets that support Java based games. The games that will be made available for download on the site will be free of charge for everyone.
This is Zapak’s first entry into mobile gaming, even though they already had a WAP version of their site before. Currently, the site offers 5 downloadable games - viz. Chess, Reversi, Connect4, TicTacToe and BattleBlocks. Getting the games downloaded and starting off gameplay is fairly easy. It helps if you have a EDGE enabled handset.
The games’ file size is less than 1MB and are quickly downloaded onto the handsets. After installation, you need to create a new account or use an existing account, if you have played a game before (Note: Zapak.com gaming accounts currently do not work on this gaming site.). Once logged in, the system assigns a player to you as your opponent, or you can play single-player games too. Zapak is continuing with the popularity of its person vs. person games on this platform too.
Apart from gaming, the site also has the ability to chat with your opponent and apparently, there is also an Inbox option. High scorers from each of the games are listed onto the site’s ‘Hall of Fame‘.
With the mobile market in India on a non-stop growing bus ride, and taking into consideration all the activity surrounding the 3G spectrum auction, the mobile internet market in India is expected to have its own boom. This move by Zapak puts itself in the right spot when that happens. It recently launched ZapakCricket, trying to cash in on the IPLT20 madness in India. Seeing that mobile operators already have downloadable games from their sites, though at prices upwards of Rs. 50, providing games for free is a great advantage on Zapak’s part. All that remains to see, is how Zapak caters the public with the quality and quantity of the games.

Guys, http://www.zapak.mobi was launched over 5 months back and i hear has resonable traffic. Its only since of late that there is more traction coming from organic search.
