Hovr brings Free Ad-Supported Games to NDTV Active
It was just today that we brought you the news about Zapak launching a mobile gaming site at http://zapak.mobi. Now, we have just been told that NDTV Active, the mobile portal from NDTV now brings your mobile Java based games, courtesy of Hovr.
NDTV Active is a mobile portal from the house of NDTV, which brings you daily news, astro predictions, Movies’ talks, Cricket and Profit content. The site will now bring you some exciting line-up of downloadable games from Hovr. These games are ad-supported games which can be downloaded free of cost from the site. Along with the games, a small advertisement also needs to be downloaded from the site, which needs to be viewed before playing a game.
The site currently houses over 100 games catering to a number of compatible handsets. It is interesting to see that the ‘Games’ link on top is merely a link to Hovr’s WAP site, located at http://wap.hovr.com. Also, the games, when launched after the download, are branded as Hovr and there is no mention of NDTV, apart from a welcome message.
Hovr already has a deal with Times-Internet to provide similar ad-supported games to them. The question to be asked here is, what happens to the paid content provided by Mobile Operators on their own microsites? The same question, when asked back in 2007 during a MobileMonday discussion, was answered as ‘No’ by most operators present there. But the times have changed since then.
Today, a lot of content is available for mobiles. Mobiles are the next big thing, they say. The media content is available from a variety of sources. The same content can be shared among your loved ones too. Does it really make sense to have paid content when similar content is available for free?
