Pimpri-Chinchwad is a small city near Pune. Formed by two towns of Pimpri and Chinchwad, the city is located to the west of Pune. With four engineering colleges, Pimpri-Chinchwad is to Pune what Noida is to Delhi. Well, not exactly, but that can be the case within a couple of years. It was proposed that Pimpri-Chinchwad be renamed to New Pune.

With a population of about 1 million (2001 census) and four engineering colleges already, Pimpri-Chinchwad is a nice place to move for the commercial people.

Now, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Infomedia Private Limited (PCIPL) has announced to launch a web portal for the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad - www.mypimprichinchwad.com , reports ExpressIndia.com. The portal will contain information in Marathi and English on subjects ranging from entertainment, politics, crime, city infrastructure, culture, business, sports etc. It will also feature sections such as kids zone, rea; estate and shopping.

PCIPL managing director Yogesh Wani says:

“The bilingual portal is the first of its kind in the world. The best thing about the portal is that it is very informative in the sense that it allows net users to send in their valuable comments, grievances, photographs and even articles. We want to give the best content and other allied information to the end users. “

Geographically based portals can be a good source of information for the local residents. Moreover, providing the content in the local language only enhances its reach. The Pimpri-Chinchwad portal seems like a good project. A lot of these will eventually be needed in a vast country like India.
