OrderMonger.com, a startup started by four software engineers who have previously worked at Microsoft, has been selling online food, flowers and groceries online. OrderMongers.com enables ordering of food, flowers and rent cars online. OrderMongers.com has been operating in Hyderabad and is now looking to expand to other cities, reports Business Standard.
Arvind Krishnan, vice-president, OrderMonger, said
“We have full-fledged operations in Hyderabad, apart from offering a few services in Chennai, Bangalore and Pune. We plan to replicate this model in Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh and offer a full spectrum of services there in a year”
The company has reportedly tied up with 75 restaurants. Apart from individuals, corporate like Microsoft, CA, Progress Softwares and Dr. Reddy’s have subscribed to the services from OrderMonger.com
OrderMonger is looking to raise around Rs.2crores from various investors. A part of the money will be used to make separate, dedicated websites for food, flowers and corporate services.
Krishna Natarajan, CEO of OrderMonger, said that the current fopcus is on flowers.
Natarajan, further added,
“We plan to establish a retail florist store in Hyderabad in three months from now, before exploring possibilities in other cities where we already have a presence. We expect to garner Rs 36 lakh from the retail store and a total web volume of Rs 40 lakh from our flowers business a year. In the first year of operation, our turnover from other services should be around Rs 1.35 crore,”
Local city search is already there in many cities. The time is ripe for offline services to be offered through online ordering platforms. OrderMonger is quite a neutral name. The brand, if re-enforced well, can be known as the one-stop solution for ordering anything online. They would have to do good spend on advertising. TV and print advertising, to be precise. I see a lot of opportunities for a service like this. Good to see someone creating something that does not revolves around web advertising.

I always wonder why there is so much emphasis on founders experience at MS/Y!/Google or alumni of IIT/IIM’s?
Just inquisitive!!
