Quasar Media appointed “Agency on Record” by Apollo DKV
Quasar Media, a subsidiary of the Smile Interactive Technology Group, has been appointed by Apollo DKV Insurance Corp. as their AOR (Agency on Record) for a year and will be responsible for developing digital marketing campaigns, media planning and media buying.![]()
Quasar claims to be India’s largest digital media and e-solutions provider. Its clients include MakeMyTrip, Monster, Microsoft, Motorola, LG, Zapak and VISA. It was founded in 2005 and has offices in Mumbai and Bangalore. Quasar was acquired by the London-based WPP, thus globalizing Quasar Media.
Although the financial details are not known, there were 4 other agencies that were eager to bag this deal but eventually Quasar bagged it. In an official interview, C Chandrashekhar, chief marketing officer, Apollo DKV, says,
“Quasar understood Apollo DKV’s business and proposed result oriented solutions. Its overall approach suited our communication strategy. Apollo DKV will partner Quasar in developing a comprehensive digital communication mandate in the next one year.”
Piyush Rathi, business director, Quasar Media, added,
“Apollo DKV will contribute 4-5 per cent of the total digital advertising spend of the health insurance category. We will use digital marketing to create the Apollo DKV brand and generate leads. We will use various formats of digital marketing and also revamp their site, ApolloDKV.com.”

Apollo DKV is a joint venture between the Apollo Hospital group and DKV, a part of the German Munich Re group. Earlier this year, they had brought in Quasar to manage a small digital campaign of Apollo DKV in February and March 2008 to create brand awareness and generate leads.
Ankit Adds : Quasar has been doing quite nice recently. After bagging top clients from across the world like Microsoft, Motorola etc., they seem to be moving in the forward direction and expanding their forte of services and clients. The WPP acquisition came as a pleasant step that added more strength to the brand and increased their visibility in the international market. With more and more Indians getting online, the number of agencies servicing the clients for their digital needs is seeing a jump in India. Quasar has been early in the game and they have leveraged it well till now. I hope to see a lot of action from the Quasar team in the upcoming future. I am more interested in seeing that with the WPP-name behind it, and with the new players entering the ground soon, how Quasar leverages its experience in digital makreting, and more than that, its association with WPP.
