Well After a plethora of general ad networks and many of whom have recieved funding and backing like komli and tyroo. Its time for vertical ad networks to start mushrooming all over. Its the same funda if there can be a naukri.com there can also be a vertical sites on tech jobs etc etc.

The company thats leading the vertical ad network foray is none other than Goose Fish Media Ventures (which was started by the Webchutney Founder Sidharth Rao). Afaqs reports that the two ad networks that have been launched are GoSinbad.com - A Travel Ad Network and DivaNation.in a women centric ad network.
If people remember Webchutney was closely related to travel in its early days with Makemytrip virals and also initiating a community site oktatabyebye.com for makemytrip. So the travel vertical makes sense given their closeness to makemytrip.
The women network comes into picture when you consider that they have been funded by Capital18 not so long ago and Web18 which is the web centric arm of Network18 the parent company owns Indiwo.com a women centric portal. Hence possibly the need to launch a women centric ad network as well. Its a you rub my back I rub yours scenario.

Besides for Goosfish there also seems to be a buzz that Ishir Digital is launching TonicTag as a Technology Ad Vertical in India. Now thats interesting if you ask me given that the number of big tech sites in Techtree and Tech2 as well the number of technology related blogs is probably the maximum if you count all the regularly updated blogs. Hence it wont surprise me if they do well (psst.. provided they pay the publishers.. Not many existing ad networks are popular for good payment).

































Interesting… I feel it is too early for niche verticals at this moment.. but the niches they have got into actually seem the best ones to get into.. I feel good about gosindbad…
It seems that ad network competition is heating up in India.
