Cricinfo, a wholly owned subsidiary of ESPN, which offers cricket updates has tied up with Myntra to offer cricket merchandise. The association will result in Myntra selling many cricket - related stuff on its website, like T-Shirts, mugs having famous caricatures and quotes by the cricketers.

Premdeep Gangadharan, Senior General Manager - Marketing, Cricinfo, said

“Cricinfo has always been the numero uno website for all things cricket. This tie-up however takes our association with cricket fans to the next level by having us help them in their self-expression of their appreciation for the game. This is a unique, dream-come-true opportunity to the true cricket fan - customized merchandise to proclaim his/ her liking for the iconic game and its players”

Mukesh Bansal, CEO of Myntra, added

“These designs and products are developed exclusively for cricket lovers. It’s perfect if you would like to have some fun/ add the fun element while enjoying the game with friends”

Criketing season is ON. And after the super success of IPL, it makes sense for the online brands on cash in on the success of the game. The present move by Crickino and Myntra is a smart step in cashing in on the popularity of the game in India.

A special mention should be made about the intelligence of the people running Myntra. Not only had they got funding from Erasmic Venture Fund, it has been smart enough to partner with services like iBiBo, Chakpak, Holiday IQ,  then with Indyarocks and now Cricinfo. I am eagerly aiting to watch the next move by the company.
