Here comes a national award for creating computer games. No more shall your mother stop you from playing games on the internet neither shall she freak out when you tell her that you develop computer games for your living. Why? Well, now even the United Nations has recognized the impact a little flash game can have, on a human psyche. Zapak.com, a gaming subsidiary of Reliance Entertainment, has lapped up the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) - Laadli Award for Creative Excellence of Social Change. Did the last statement sound too technical and geeky to you? Well, in layman’s terms, Zapak.com got awarded by the United Nations for creating a question-answer game as a part of a communication campaign launched by Population First. The basic idea behind the game is to challenge the gamer’s knowledge on India’s problems of female foeticide, heavily skewed sex ratios and sex determination.
Personally, I found the game to be very interactive and fun to play. Moreover, the idea of “bursting a myth” or “highlighting” one appealed to my taste and intellect. The questions, that were put forth, were pretty important issues and it actually felt like a quiz competition to me :-P. What piqued my intellect is how beautifully Zapak and People First have used the gaming medium to spread awareness on sexual discriminination, at the same time educating today’s youth on the social cause.
It’s a must-play game that WATBlog shall recommend for each of it’s readers and we’d love to know how long you took to reach the recommended level of 90% on the “conscience meter”. By the way, the editor himself took a whole of 12 minutes after a hell lot of curvy-bumpy ride

It’s worth praising that Zapak has started this game to make people aware about female foeticide. Though currently, there are many efforts going on but web is an important source to reach large no. of people.
Is it social pressure or our own preferences or a fashion/trend to have a boy baby or our preset mind which says we want a boy baby only. if we keep on killing girls in this way, then there won’t be left any culture in our societies at all. So there is a strong need to make people aware of the fact that killing girl child will cause serious problems for the society, for the whole humanity in the near future.
Recently I came to know about a project started by an Indian spiritual master Anandmurti Gurumaa , that project is named as Shakti . While I was reading about them I came to know that Shakti means Power. In Indian Culture Shakti is a synonym for girls, for Goddess Durga, well that is a different thing that in India present situation is completely different. What I think taht the ‘web generation’ can spread this message effectively to mass.
