Here comes the news that would surely give all the iPhone enthusiasts huge adrenaline rush. Yeah, as the headlines suggest, Vodafone has, today, opened up registrations for the brand new iPhone 3G. Although the phone hasn’t been officially launched in India as yet nor has any date been officially announced, the very fact that the registrations have been thrown open is an indication of this beauty’s arrival in the Indian market, very soon.

Well, despite all the excitement, here’s a little turn off for you. Although the new iPhone is 3G enabled, only 2G shall currently be available in the Indian networks and moreover, only select features and services shall be available in India. As of now, Vodafone plans to launch the new iPhone 3G in only 10 markets around the globe. It seems Vodafone is too eager to get customers pre-registered in a hope to combat competition from Airtel in the same market.

Of course, I have already gotten myself registered! What are you waiting for?

  1. The pricing has not been revealed. The phones would offcourse be network locked and Vodafone is taking a measurement of the demand.

It is expected that existing customers will get it for over 20k and new connections with some commitment plans might get it for as low as 17k. :)

  2. I booked one too!

  3. Even Airtel has started registrations, i have booked one….

  4. Hey whats this crap man, you posting old information as exclusive. This should not happen, you have posted this information, fine but this was posted be me on my blog earlier. The information is good and exciting but not exclusive,

  5. Dear Vikram,

I came across the story while I visited Vodafon’e website to review my phone bill. I had done a thorough Google check on the story but couldn’t gather one link that pointed to the news, but speculations. And if you notice the date of publishing of both the articles on WATBlog and your blog, they are the same. It seems Google took it’s own time to crawl through your page.

  6. he he thats good answer man…yeah may be you are right my page was crawled later..sorry for that…

  7. @ Vikram…

No problemo, dude…shit happens in life ;-)
By the way, happened to check out your blog. Am pretty impressed with the quality of content.

  8. @Shayon….by the way i didnt find anything shitty about it dude, lets not get into these words on a public forum, WAT is about technology and nice people writing good things lets stick to that, and yeah thanx for your comment on my blog man, i am happy to get a comment from a WAT blogger, feels good!!

  9. actually vodafone had a big iPhone 3G ad on Times of India front page so its pretty public news.

As for google indexing, try google blog search next time. They index pretty soon.

  10. Information is not exclusive. And I thinking WAT should think again about how they want to use this word. That said, this was advertised on TOI front page yesterday. Unless and untill Vikram has posted this on 24th, I dont think he has any right to claim ‘ I was there first’.
WAT you generally come up with good content, dont spoil it by careless use of ‘exclusive’. It sounds sensational but it has its own demerits.

  11. @rahul - By exclusive i meant on a blog and by the way after that I have apologised to the author of the post, I think your narrow vision missed that. I saw your blog and was pretty impressed and didnt expect a comment like this from a fellow blogger on a blog like WAT. Anyways, I again take back my words that I posted it first.

  12. not sure about the whole exclusive thing.. Airtel has started the pre bookings as well. http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g
