Updates: Just got an update informing about the tie up between hungama mobile and dailymotion.com for the Indian Market. Here is some dope on the tie up via the release:

Hungama Mobile has entered into a strategic alliance with Dailymotion, Hungama will be Dailymotion’s anchor partner and business associate for the India operations. This alliance would enable Dailymotion to quickly build on local video content as Hungama Mobile deals with over 250 leading media and entertainment companies and is enabling their content across various digital platforms. Also given Hungama’s mobile development capability and reach it wont be surprising if they took to mobile video sharing as well in India. Though the technology required to support the same is yet to be launched.

From hungama’s perspective its a great opportunity to provide an online video platform to its clients which are primarily from the video content space (read as bollywood movies.) Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Neeraj Roy, MD & CEO, Hungama Mobile said, “We are delighted to partner with Dailymotion which has already made a significant presence globally in a limited time of 3 years. We believe that platforms such Dailymotion would be ideal for discovering video content across UGC, creative and premium licensed and we would like to enable that across internet and mobile. We are confident that this tie-up will create a huge impact in the Indian online video sharing market which is already showing signs of growth.”

EARLIER POST: After the launch of Youtube for India recently it seems other video sharing sites are making a beeline to enter this market. Just recently we had blogged about the Dailymotion and Mid-day tie up which enables use of dailymotion video sharing platform through mid-day. As expected this was a move by dailymotion to enter the Indian markets and generate UGC videos from here.

According to ET article Dailymotion is soon looking to launch in India and also introduce its Motionmaker programme in India which promotes creative users who upload videos. According to DailyMotion India MD Raajh Singh “When content generates a substantial number of hits, we monetise creators. If a MotionMaker user uploads multiple number of videos, they are screened and then selected,”

The difference between normal videos and motionmakers is that normal video uploads are limited to a timeframe of 20 minutes while motionmakers can be unlimited. This is a way to attract Tv producers to put their shows on dailymotion and earn from it. To protect copyrighted content dailymotion also has an acoustic fingerprinting system that can detect copyrighted videos and not publish them.

On the whole the video scene in India seems to be hotting up with international players like Youtube and Dailymotion coming the scene and Indian players setting up their own copyrighted content video portals like zoomtv, rajshri and others. Given so much of video content the need of a video search engine cant be far behind. No doubt we are seeing startups like samfra.com also on the rise in India.
