MOTOMusic Gets Launched in India - Competition For Apple’s iTunes

Finally iTunes gets into some tough competition in the Indian market. After Motorola had acquired the pan Asian music service provider, SoundBuzz, Motorola seems to be working overtime to launch the its much celebrated music portal, MOTOMusic, before iPhone gets a chance to grab that share in the Indian market, thanks to Apple’s very popular iTunes service.
SoundBuzz is a Singapore based music provider that had pertnered with content providers like Sony BMG, EMI, Warner Music & Universal. It had also struck deals with mobile operators like Airtel, Singtel, Telstra and 3. Thus, as it is evident, the tie-up with SoundBuzz has given Motorola a huge leverage in expanding their music market in India, south-east Asia, Australia and New Zealand markets.
Yesterday, Motorola announced its plans to make a foray into the Asian music market with MOTOMusic. After China, India is the only Asian country to have MOTOMusic, which offers more than 3,50,000 tracks and other multimedia content like wallpapers and videos for download. Such a service is not too new in this market, for Motorola, as its official website had already been offering ringtones and videos, to be downloaded in the PC or mobile, for Rs. 19 each. Now, MOTOMusic shall be very helpful in quenching the Indians’ ever-lasting thirst for Bollywood content. Aptly put by Christ White, President, Media Applications & Service of Motorola, “Essentially, the idea is to give an ethnic flavour in the language of local Indians who are mesmerised by the Hindi film songs from Bollywood.”

Hi
A bit of relief. Now airtel is providing option of EMI to buy iPhone (www.airtel.in/iphone3g). At least, now people who were expecting to be in range of 16-20K can think again to buy it with EMI option. What you say guys? Can we hope to get its price down in future as well?
