Aamir Khan Smoking – The “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” Smoke up Strategy
Just imagine now, if Aamir khan blogs that he has given in to his temptation of smoking and putting its blame on stress; any general fan of his would relate to it. And on top of it, he would say that he would be quitting it once Jaane Tu Ya Jaane na releases, how much publicity is it going to mean for this third movie of his, as a producer. You might be saying publicity, but how?
Even if you look at the report by CNN-IBN, it reads about Aamir Khan in the first two Paragraphs and then the third para quotes, “The actor says that his nephew Imraan’s debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is the reason behind his stress. The film is produced by Aamir and is set to release on July 4. “
Is it a marketing strategy, by giving a general impression to all, “The movies is releasing on the 4th of July. I have put on a lot of hard work. You’d be appreciated if you watch it”?
Moreover, try to gauge the amount of sympathy Aamir Khan would get from many of his fans visiting his blog. Judging by the already published 845 comments in his yesterday’s post, there is a high chance of him receiving comments on the lines of “Hey Aamir, I understand your concern. Given how meticulous an actor you are, we can imagine the amount of hard work you must have put in to the movie. Just take a chill pill and keep churning out great movies. And yeah, smoking is injurious to health, you must remember that!”
Here’s another take. Such an act from Aamir’s side can even trigger a huge viral marketing gimmick since the news of Aamir taking up smoking is too huge not to be picked up by other bloggers and react to the same on their own blogs. This goes a long way to give Aamir’s “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” huge amount of publicity, all free of cost. (Yes, we do realize that WATBlog too falls into that category by writing about his marketing gimmick
)
Hats off to Mr. Aamir Khan. Atleast, we have got a celebrity who understands the online social media well!!

Yes, The blogs is good marketing (quite cost effective as well).
The frequency of posts on the amirkhan blog has gone down. I believe thats because now the blog is popular enough and visitors keep coming back.
These posts on AK blog are known to have 1000s of comments, and amir replies to some of them aswell. Overall a well executed stuff
