I’m extremely sorry for saying ‘first in world’. I have been following WATblog since ages. And have found couple of sites doing same (reward system). Article dated 5th Dec http://www.watblog.com/2007/12/05/ammascom-virtual-currency-now-accepted-at-sify-mall/

I have heard about Ammas.com rewarding with AA$ and allowing to shop at SifyMall.com and Myntra.com. And they pay in US$ or INR by cheque. I’m not too sure, but have also heard that they hold patent of reward system.

hello all, just thought would clarify a few things here.
- there is no cash offered to WATBlog - I guess these guys are “novelty enthusiasts”, and probably the concept appealed to them and so they picked it up
- why points system? well, city search as a concept is only so much exciting. there is a lot you want to know and do, but there is no single place you could go to for all that. We acknowledged that, and just thought that there could be something a bit more exciting for users to share their city nuggets, and make such services useful for other users. We are not buying users here - and thats why no award announcements such as “WIN 50 LACS/1 CRORE” etc. Its a humble attempt to excite the users and integrate them with their cities. If for some reasons, it doesnt appeal to you, or offends you, or you feel that we are lacking somewhere, pls write to us at feedback@onyomo.com, and we promise we’d act in the interests of overall user community.

As I have already mentioned in one of my comments above, this was not a sponsored post, else, you should have surely found the disclaimer.
Coming to the issue of misleading our readers, we have immense respect for our readers’ intelligence and we know that if we ever try to fool around, our readers shall be very prompt to point out our mistakes. Anyway, coming back to the original question - if you read the last paragraph of the above post a little more carefully, I have explicitly mentioned that OnYoMo gives out 100 free credits to our readers by registering via the link I have posted. And it actually equals to Rs 100 because, had you read their official document (linked above too), it is explicitly mentioned that they are paying Re 1 for every community credit you rake up. The only catch being, you can redeem your credits (or cash, depends on the way you perceive) you shall need a minimum of Rs 500 to be able to redeem your points.

Hi, I just wish you had read the article with a keener eye. I have mentioned that such a reward system is the first in India, and not the world. Moreover, if you say so, I’d love to know that how many “community sites” in India actually offer money for interacting with other users and disseminate information to the public? Last I can remember of, is a flash gaming site, contest2win.com, who used to award credits to the players that could later be redeemed for goods. But then again, that’s a game site and not a “community site”.

I know that the risk of spamming is very high. But then, doesn’t almost every other site allows you to invite “friends” to join the web site? Moreover, once you point someone out as spam, you shall never get a email from that person in your inbox. What more, if you think you are getting too many requests from the OnYoMo’s users, you can request them fo not sending you an email henceforth.

i am all confused is it a paid review……or review for your social media customer…..and do use diclaimers cos one way u reviewing the site and another way you have a dialogue with them to give offers to watblog readers……and i did check their site for rs.100 scheme but its never mentions that 100 rs. what it does mention is that they give 100 credits……so aint u guys misleading the readers….there credit system is good but if they start to pay people then i dont think they would remain in the market for long…thanx 4 misleading the users…….

@Tanmay: as far as the differentiation is concerned you need to look at the value of the Community Credits that you earn through OnYoMo. Each point is worth Re 1 and redemption begins at 500. Also the redemption centers, which the site is still to announce, can be easily guessed by the clues provided. Now if you can tell me any other reward system that gives you such high and quick rewards, i will be highly thankful and surely join that.
@Pankaj: I am no expert but if you wanna know the difference between metromela and OnYOMo than here it is.
a) The experience of using OnYoMO. It loads in a snap.
b) Its design and technology, i bet even you were impressed.
c) The people at MetroMela are not sure of what they are awarding and what not. You say here that inviting friends is not rewarded directly but the site says something else. So, may be MetroMela is still living in that fake business world, they should better try their hands at googlecashcow.com… See, your rewards are just for name sake and none of your users seem to be even close to the 5K mark. Whereas, I am already over 500 at Onyomo… believe me Pankaj if MM was even close to as good as Onyomo, i would have been the first to join.
d) Your(no personal offence, MM’s) is lacking confidence while giving the points that’s why they are being so miser.
@Shayon: Your readers are doubting you, i suggest skip WAT for some days and fight with me for the top rank at Onyomo. It will help you retain reader’s trust. And also, dont forget to vote for my reviews.

If possible, can you please PIN-point the exact differentiation between OnYoMo’s reward system and other reward system’s

Hi Shayon,

Rewards points is a good idea but one has to careful about spam. MetroMela has a rewards point program and several winners who have won Rs 500 gift coupons already for writing good reviews, sugesting merchants and notfying us of a deal. User also gets 50%of all points earned by friends they invite on metromela. We have not kept any direct rewards for inviting a friend because the spam risk there is very high.
