In another step towards e-govrenance, the Department of Information technology, Government of India has decided to host all the government orders issued online. Business Standard reports that various departments issuing Government Orders will be sent to the Information technology and Communication department for allotment of a number.

All Government Orders issued after Februrary 2008 will be put up on http://gov.in/goir.

Indian government is slowly, but staedliy moving towards making use of the internet for distribution of information. Though the total Internet using population in India is quite low, the ease of navigation of these websites allows even the novices to extract information from the websites.
