@Ashok
One reason why I like Vinod Khosla is his ability to see into the right kind of future and not follow the herd. So when the world was out, investing in social networks, he took interest in Bio fuels. And now, the iPhone applications. Khosla knows the market is big. It has to be, if iPhone sells 25% of all the smart phones in the U.S.
Opening up of platform to application is usually a wise move. And Apple sure has learnt it's lesson. This could encourage a lot of people building startups around iPhone applications. Let's just hope that we, the end user, do not end up with a Facebook(applications) like situation. Too much crap, too little usability.

Vinod Khosla (www.kpcb.com) has started iFund - a $100M initiative to fund startups and developers to make apps for iPhone - looks neat ... I think it's a wise move by Apple to open up their platform after such a long time ... specially after iTunes (which is not only closed but also the most annoying User Experience in the hwole world) ...

@ Ashok - Thanks for sharing. :)
@ Raghav - In USA, Apple has already forced the other mobile players to up their game. Not only are future phones adopting more iPhone-centric interfaces and features, wireless carriers who can't offer the iPhone to their customers are spending more to remind users of their offerings. The $200 pricepoint on the iPhone is going to be extremely tempting for everyone and this will be a matter of concern for other phone manufacturers. In India the scenario is different. It's pretty hard to say that at what price iPhone would be available.
