Online Advertising Expenditure To Be 3600 Crores By 2010 In India! – ZenithOptimedia Report

A report by Zenith Optimedia forecasts the future spends in Online advertising and its growth around the world. A look at the report and it justifies the increased interest that India as a market is seeing as far as many advertising players launching digital arms in India is concerned.

 

Here is a global growth chart on the total advertising spend from the report:

As you can see India is sixth on the world list in terms of growth value from 2007 to 2010 and if you rearrange the same list with respect to growth percentage then India would be 4th on the same list.

 

A look at India’s own advertising growth market chart shows that the whole advertising spend is set to boom 8 times since 1995 when it was around 47 billion to around 367 billion rupees. And out of the 367 billion rupees forecast to be spent on advertising by 2010 about 36 billion is expected to be spent on online advertising. The report gives no demarcation on display vs search or lead vs branding kind of spends. But I expect online advertising to mature to move from lead to branding and also expect social media shall also have a sizeable piece of the pie from that 36 billion.

 

Even earlier we had covered a similar report on spends by ZenithOptimedia last year where in they had forecast the total online advertising spend for 2009 to be 22 billion rupees. So in terms of growth from 2009 to 2010 the yearly growth would be around 75%! Which is quite a high growth number if you ask me. It seems like all those who are chasing the pot of gold with the online advertising market might just start seeing some glitter by the end on this decade!
