You know computing in India has really taken off when you have Times of India, reporting a 16-year-old, class 10 student making millions by hacking credit cards online. Reportedly, Ajay, a resident of Mumbai got hooked to hacking while playing games online. He got into contact with certain hackers and curious about the process, started studying the various tools and techniques. After putting in 15 hours every day into the hacking process, he finally get access to an online community of hackers. The community gave him access to a huge database of credit cards Customer Verification Values (CVV) of various international banks.

The kid turned out to be smart enough to have erased all the footprints from his “tools” - a laptop, a communicator and a cellphone. The news further says that he used proxy servers to “fool” the cyber police. If that’s the Indian Cyber Police, well, no big deal, I would say. I read a story sometime back stating how an Indian Police constable would not go near a confiscated PC, as he has heard that the computer had a “virus” and the constable feared that it would infect him !

Ajay’s “gang” had three other boys, from Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Ajay trained them into creating fake accounts, then using online marketplace websites to direct large amount of money from the buyers’ credit cards to their own accounts.
