Google Trends Upgrades – Shows Point Scale For Keyword Comparison
Google trends has upgraded its algorithm to show a scale which doesn’t reflect a search volume but can be used for comparing two keywords against each other to understand how popular one keyword is to another. Google trends is a great tool for anyone who is looking at search engine traffic whether through the use of SEO (Search engine optimization) or SEM (Search engine marketing) as the main source of website traffic.
Google trends was launched in 2006 as an experiment which let anyone get an insider view of what the world was searching for. Google had knowingly kept the product at a very basic level which still made targetting and positioning for SEO or SEM firms a challenge. But this new feature addition (check the screenshots from the Google Blog) will add to the armoury of a marketer who can compare two keywords to see how their search trends match up to each other.
As you can see from the above screenshots chocolate icecream is 1.38 times more searched than vanilla on google. This tool is very nifty when you think of comparing search trends for brands. For instance check this -> Nike is 2.12 times more searched than Adidas! Or the fact that pepsi and coke are neck and neck with pepsi being slightly ahead with 1.04 searches for every 1 search for coke!
Anyone else can think of interesting usage of this tool? Please let us know and we shall update this post with due credit to you!
