NIIT Provides Computer Aided Education To Bihar & Maharshtra Students For Rs 71 Crore

NIIT India has been jubilating high on its achievements, recently. Founded in 1981, NIIT offers learning and knowledge solutions to 5 million students across 32 countries. On June 07, the leading global talent development corporation received the mandate for IT-enabling almost 1.9 million students of Bihar & Maharashtra.
As per the Rs. 71 crore contract, NIIT Ltd is expected to provide computers and computer-aided education to 1.5 million students of 500 government schools in Bihar and 600,000 students of 400 schools across Maharashtra. This project is reportedly been set up for a 5 year period.
It is good to see that the Indian government is taking steps to technologically enable the young minds of the country. Today’s life has technology embedded into each and every sphere. Whether you become an engineer, doctor, a journalist or even a fashion designer, shying away from technology will always make one lag behind.
NIIT has already been partnering with state governments of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh for infrastructure creation, systems integration, facilities management, education delivery and teachers’ training.
However, any “computer aided” education needs to develop the learning capacity of the students, should be embedded into the regular curriculum and also empower distance learning to increase the productivity and effectiveness of instructors with the help of technology.
Moreover, I think it’s high time our Indian schools stopped “teaching” LOGO and QBasic to students in the name of “computer education” and actually come up with useful and value-added curriculum.

Hi Abhilash & Amit,
It’s good to find someone who follows WATBlog so closely. Riding on the gun and capitalizing on every chance is something I very much appreciate in fellow bloggers.
Coming to the point Abhilash has put up, I just wish he had been a bit more keen eyed. If you check out the post titled “Why the Western invasion?“, it was written by a guest blogger, “Rishabh Kaul”. Now, if you check out our Disclaimer, it is clearly mentioned that WATBlog doesn’t endorse the views of its guest bloggers.
Apart from being a reputed Blog in the country, WATBlog also tries its best to showcase other fellow bloggers and spread its link love to others.

Strange response from WATMedia. So the post in question was a guest post and WATMedia doesn’t endorse the views of guest bloggers. So therefore it can show an unrelated photograph of African kids being taught by a white man for a story of NIIT training kids in Bihar and Maharashtra? Huh!!! Not sure if you got the point at all WATMedia.
Bihar is great. Just require a little TLC (tender loving care). Things will work for Bihar sooner that expected despite the floods.
