Microsoft Asks (Warns) Hardware Makers to Test Windows 7 Early On

OK, 150 million licenses later, Windows Vista is still not considered anywhere near a success and Microsoft is making sure, Seven (Windows 7) doesn’t goes the same way. Windows 7 is said to be out as early as late-2009 (earlier speculated to be around 2010).
Whatever M$ messed up with Vista, it’s now looking to correct with 7. So, Microsoft is asking the hardware vendors to start testing early tests of Windows 7. That is, as soon as they get a beta version.
Microsoft recently demonstrated Windows 7 in D5. Steve Ballmer demonstrated the touch screen capability of the new Operating System. After having a look at the demonstration, I was impressed. However, I’m sure there’s not much that would change with respect to the User Interface in Windows 7. Touch screen is a different thing and will be enabled on the devices that are touch screen capable, but for the rest, I am sure compatibility and functionality would be more in focus. The things that they screwed up on in Windows Vista.
Whatever, like always, even this release of Windows will be accompanied by a loads of speculations, fanfare, “previews”. And of course, screenshots, like the two we used here.
