Airtel & VeriSign Join Hands – Regional Internet Resolution Sites set up in India


Bharti Airtel joins forces with Verisign to provide more secure web solutions to the consumers. Airtel plans to get its own networks secured, alongwith other telecom operators, and also provide similar services to every other interested party. Also, Bharti expects to generate almost 100 million dollars as revenue, in the next 3 years, using their relationship with Verisign. Since this tie up shall mostly be useful in beefing up security of online transactions, their main targets should be the banking sector and financial sector, in general.

 

Airtel Joins Hands With Verisign

 

 Dr. Jai Menon, Director of Airtel’s Custor Service and IT, said – “As our networks head towards being IP-based, we are very quickly transitioning to becoming a telecom company where both voice and data will move in packets. In this highly digitised and ‘packetised’ world, it is imperative that Airtel’s name and its networks be synonymous with safe and secure network.”

 

Moreover, since Verisign decided to set up Regional Internet Resolution Sites in India, access to the .com and .net sites shall become much faster since Verisign happens to be the sole registrar of the above stated domains. This is the first such center to be set up in the country. This only goes a long way to prove the emerging
