twitturly.com Twitt(url)y powered by Summize is another service which promises to make users life much more easy. So what exactly does Twitt(url)y do?

Twitturly is a service for tracking URLs that people are talking about as they talk about them on Twitter. The about us page describes the easiest way to understand how Twitturly works if you as a user is familiar with Digg. In Digg people “vote” for an item. The more votes it gets the better it ranks. If it does well enough, it gets promoted to the home page and as the votes increase it gets displayed higher up the home page. Twitturly is different than digg because instead of voting on their site, you vote by participating on twitter. Each time that you send a link to your followers on twitter, twitturly takes a note of it and applies your vote to that URL.

To keep things fresh and the quality high, twitturly only shows the 100 most popular URLs over the last 24 hours. The 24 hours are constantly sliding and they can have an advanced algorythm in place so you always see what people are currently talking about.

They have also won Mashup of the day award. In a short time it seems to be hitting new highs. But will it gain the popularity that it is aiming for? I guess we have to wait and watch. For now it has 162 followers and it is following 24 people on Twitter. This is really amazes me. If it doesn’t follow its followers people may stop following it. And gradually it may turn out to be a flop service.

My final take: If you are die hard fan of reading news based on number of votes then you can certainly give it a try.
