So, it took about a month to cross the 100 mark. Yes, I am talking about the orkut App directory, which now lists more than 100 applications since its launch in India & Estonia in mid-April.

Though the concept of application is taken from Facebook, & orkut has also highlighted several apps, most are derived from Facebook applications only.

Apart from not sharing the application usage statistics while adding the application, there are some other concerns too, like games displaying nudity e.g. “Whose Boobs” game in the my hangman format developed by contests2win.com (Image below has been pixelized)

You can check out some images from the game without adding it to your orkut profile. Though the opensocial TOS can delete these content, but I wonder how much time it takes to review just 100+ applications.

On the other hand, as per Adonomics (formerly Appaholic), over 25k Facebook applications’ installation crossed 1 billion mark. Facebook reached this figure one year after the launch of Facebook platform.

Though the number seems too big, but regarding applications, my experience says people install applications whereas only a quite low percentage of the total use it actively.
