In the post on the Walled Garden and Social Networking we spoke at length about Facebook Connect and how Facbook plans to make itself the Gateway to the Internet by giving its users a birds eye view of everything that their friends are doing online – ‘social surfing’ if you might. We even spoke about the possibility of Facebook having a browser within its platform or even creating a browser, which updates everything into the network (information overload anyone?).

All the above things look very likely. Facebook now allows users to import more sites into its platform to be intergrated into Newsfeeds and mini feeds. Sites like Hulu, Google Reader, Last.fm, YouTube, Stumble Upon and a number of others (check picture).

This announcement comes after Facebook announced that it will not take part in Google’s Friend Connect.

The move by Facebook follows the FriendFeed model which also incidentally looks at Social Surfing and importing all the data from partner sites to showcase that to friends. Any of you early adopters on FriendFeed yet?
