Zapak eyes US & China Based Acquisitions

We had reported earlier about Zapak’s interest in the Russian, Chinese and West Asian Markets but it seems like the company is looking to recruit hardcore US gamers as well.

Zapak is holding discussions with 6 companies at this point of time – 2 Chinese companies and 3 – 4 US based companies. The names of these companies have been withheld due to non-disclosure agreements. The company is looking at majority stakes in all these companies as opposed to 100% buy – outs.

“The acquisitions will provide us an entry into new territories and access to an established customer base,” said Rohit Sharma, the COO of Zapak to TOI.

The company has $100 Million earmarked for a 5 year period since inception so its quite clear that for 5 years Zapak will do more spending and is looking to establish a base for revenues to flow in.

We wrote sometime back about Zapak launching Zapak Cricket for the Indian Market and also looking at revenues through merchandising, which could be one way to turn around its so far lagging revenues. The company is also looking at 500 Gameplexes in India by 2009.
