In a previous post, I had blogged on sneak-peek of Mobile Firefox prototype user interface where I had mentioned Opera Mini which is by peoples’ choice: world’s favorite mobile Web browser.

Today, Opera Mini graduated to release 4.1 & again the folks at Opera Mini have done a good job in improving the product & introducing some new features:-

1. Upto 50% more faster- Opera Mini 4.1 claims that there is upto 50% speed improvement than the previous version.

2. Automatic URL suggestion - The new version automatically suggests URL completions based on browsing history & bookmarks, making address input easy and intuitive.

3. Finding things easier - The latest version allows searching for texts or phrases within a web page.

4. Download and upload files - It allows downloading & uploading of images, ringtones and other content without leaving Opera Mini. But this feature requires the mobile phone to have JSR 75 specification support.

5. Save pages for later use - Web pages can be saved for later off-line viewing. Again requires JSR 75 support in mobile.

You can check out the guided tour of Opera Mini 4.1 in the video below:-

  1. I own a sony ericsson p1i, and it came pre-installed with ‘opera for symbian’, version 8.something.
How is this one different from opera mini? or they both are parallel products?

    Regards!
    Chris
