After Microsoft called an off for Yahoo deal, Google is acting fast to strengthen its bonding with Yahoo. Earlier we had blogged on Will Yahoo Announce Google Ad Deal? And it seems that very soon the deal will get closed.
Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin said “We have been talking to Yahoo and we are very excited to be working with them.”
But yet we have to wait for the final word as neither Yahoo nor Google has revealed about their negotiations. During the trial run, Google had supplied a small portion of the text-based ads that appeared alongside the search results on Yahoo’s Web site. And Google’s technology proved that it could select more profitable ads. Yahoo should consider this as an opportunity to make sure that Microsoft doesn’t come again for the second round.
Sergey Brin said “We really believe in companies having choices about their destinies, It’s not about scuttling (the deal). They were under a hostile attack and we wanted to make sure they have as many options as possible.”
It is crystal clear that Google is much happier with the current situation. Besides that Google has also announced its Web Security suite for Enterprises, it said to be designed to protect corporate Web surfers from various possible attacks from viruses, spyware, and malicious Web sites. Google is surely making good use of Postni, a company that Google had acquired last year. It is using it as a platform to offer a host of security services which are aimed at corporations and also non-Google communications services.
It doesn’t seem to stop here, further Google plans to launch new products for its YouTube Internet service in next few months and hopes for Yahoo’s co-operation. Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said:
“Getting the video sharing site to make money is the Web search company’s top priority for the year.” Though he did not provide much detail about the products but we expect something big from them.
From all this I presume that Google is now full fledge preparing itself against Microsoft. I wonder what will be Microsoft’s next strategy. And also that are we going to see the next round of Micro-Hoo deal?
