IPLT20 Website Wars! Whose Winning Till Now?

The launch of the IPT20 tournament brought with it launch of team websites and each one of the them tried their best to attract fans to their sites and build a fan base. We had covered the fancy website launches made by filmstars Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar who are supporting the ipl kolkata and delhi teams respectively.
Now the question arises now that its been 2 weeks since IPL matches started.. Who is the winner as far as website traction is concerned?
Well the best way to know is to do some number crunching and come up with some insights..
Here are the statistic from Alexa.com
As you can see from the graph above kolkataknightriders.com and chennaisuperkings.com seem to be leading the pack closely followed by deccanchargers.com and all the others are packed together. Even though the above graph leaves out websites of Kings XI Punjab, RajasthanRoyals and RoyalChallengers, All of them were around the same mark as the DelhiDareDevils and TheMumbaiIndians in the above graph.
Even if you use trafficestimate it gives you a similar result with KolkataKnightRiders heading the pack followed by DeccanChargers and ChennaiSuperKings.
So what does this imply? Are Kolkata fans fanatic? Is Shahrukh Khan the star whose power is so magnetic that the whole of India is logging on? Well the way to find out is to do some Google trend analysis as we expect a lot of people to use Google to search these sites rather than know their exact names.. So here is an analysis..
Even in the above Google trends graph one sees SRK’s Kolkata team ruling the roost. But is it just because its SRK? No ways..
Check the screencap below which shows how SRK’s universal appeal + Kolkata’s fanatical and loyal fan base are both responsible for Kolkata knight riders till now winning the IPL website wars..
As the above graph shows. Kolkata fans seem to only go to Kolkata sites while the other cities though loyal to their respective teams are visiting others sites as well. So the KolkataKnightRiders do have a fanatical backing of their local crowd not only within the stadium but outside as well.
