Sulekha.com has just executed and launched a series called the ‘Sulekha Book Series’. This apparently has been in talks for a while.

Quite simply, what it does is rewards the best bloggers in Sulekha by publishing a book featuring their best work. Each book has a theme, sketches and goes to sale on Indiaplaza.in (and Sulekha.com). Moving forward, 2 Books will be published every month, one will be a Single Author book which will contain the works of one featured blogger on Sulekha while the other will be a collective works book on a particular theme. All profits will go to the Blogger. A great initiative by the company to leverage the collective talents of its stakeholders (read: Employees) and channel their creativity and aid the Sulekha brand in return.

The first book of the series – ‘Subbu Chronicles – A Series of adventures’ is up for sale.

The book itself is by B.S Keshav, a Mumbai based architect and one of Sulekha’s most prolific bloggers. It tracks a rip-roaring adventure of Subbu, a Mumbai based tabloid journalist. In his series of adventure Subbu covers everything that is quintessentially Mumbai, the Mumbai underworld, Cricket betting, Wardrobe malfunctions and ‘Bandstand’ romance. What’s more Keshav has also brought in his architect expertise by contributing sketches to liven up the book.

If you’re interested in other ‘blog books’ coming up you should check out Gaurav Mishra’s ‘Off Consumption’. He touts it as India’s first ‘Marketing’ book as a blog. Its basically about Gaurav, a 20 something Marketer on the corporate fast track going off consumption to see if he can get any ‘invaluable insights into what drives us to consume, or not, into the nature of consumption, into human nature itself?’. Caferati has a writer’s forum on Ryze and Meenakshi Madhavan got book deal courtesy her blog – The Compulsive Professor. The deal was inked by Pengiun.
