Twitter to Get another Round of Funding. Tweetcret Launched

According to sources at CNetTwitter signed a term sheet for “either $15 million or $20 million”. The investor has not been confirmed so far but it seems to be an inside round of funding.

Last summer Twitter raised about $5 Million.

People still seem to be fascinated with the business model despite any clear revenue stream to justify the model.

Incidentally, we also saw the launch of Tweetcret recently. An anonymous site created where users can post messages without their identities being revealed. It works on a ‘Twitter like’ platform. The site does not put restrictions on content.

Tweetcret also has an associate Twitter account where you can follow the service.

It seems like a spammer’s heaven at this point of time having said that, it has the opportunity to be a reasonably valuable service.  ‘Secrets’ have propelled a lot of applications in Social Media. There was the PostSecret Blog and also a few applications on Facebook, which allow users to tell each other things without revealing one’s identity.

I say that Tweetcret could be a spammers paradise mostly because there is no filtration. The PostSecret Blog does not allow everything to be posted, which is great as a result of which it is the ‘most popular blog without any ads’.

So you need to have editorial judgements in place. The difficult part is that if Tweetcret started making editorial judgements, then they would possibly need a football stadium for an office with an army to screen messages if the service kicks off. That’s primarily because microblogging is easier to execute.

Hello, I’m the developer behind Tweetcret, and I wanted to say thanks for giving us the coverage.

The Alpha version .00001 (HA!) took off way before we expected it to, and there is still a lot of development in the works.

My short term plan is to make the posts community policed with rating and spam systems in place. Maybe even a queuing system that will put the brakes on big bursts of tweets and figure out the spam and abuse problems before it hits twitter.

There is so much to do, and at this time we took the service down for a short period of time to get this system into place.

I hope everyone will be patient and start following Tweetcret!

Yea i noticed it was down. Figured you guys would do something like this. Its a good idea. You’d get a bunch of brand plugs and pointless stuff otherwise. Im sure you are more aware than me.
