Jeevansaathi.com has introduced its brick-n-mortar retail store branded - Jeevansathi.com Match Point. It plans to open up 25-30 retail stores in 6 months. The first one has already come up in Lucknow.
On the initiative, Vivek Khare, Business Head, Jeevansathi.com said,
“With almost 65% of our population under 35 years of age, India sees millions stepping into a marriageable age every year. Parents play an important role in arranged marriages, from finding a match to final selection. Since some parents are uncomfortable with internet, we see a bias towards traditional media like newspapers and marriage bureaus for finding a match. Our retail initiative will help us tap into this critical segment.”
Swapnil Tripathi, VP, Consumer Services and Operations, Info Edge (India) Ltd, said
“Having achieved leadership in North and West India, Jeevansathi.com is poised to enter the offline space. Synergizing our online business with the retail network will significantly build significant volumes for us. With time, we plan to ramp up and introduce value added services like astrology, horoscope matching etc”
Jeevansathi.com Match Point will leverage on the strength of the huge database of profile that Jeevansathi.com already has. Counsellors present at the Match Point store will help the visiting people with the right set of matching profiles, from the Jeevansaathi.com database.
Making brick-n-mortar retail stored for online services is something that quite a few players are experimenting with. Zapak has long back opened up its Gameplexes in select cities. And even online travel portal Cleartrip has plans to set up offline presence.
In the case of matrimony, it makes still more sense as many parents are still averse to using online services for a sensitive matter like marriage.
