Microsoft, NDTV Media Commence Advertising on Facebook

As reported earlier, Mircosoft, with NDTV Media has started advertising on Facebook, in India. The Ad platform was launched in February 2008. Bolywood Humgama, Equity Master and HDFC Secutities were named as the publishing partners. Microsoft is already the ewxclusive advertising partner for Facebook in the United States. Of course they paid a bomb for this. But it’s a good strategy overall.
NDTV is the advertising partner and responsible for bringing the advertisers to the platform.
On this, Rajnish, India Head, Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions, said,
“Facebook is the new emerging media, and we see this as a potent medium to reach the consumers because of the valuable number of people who are on Facebook. We believe there is a huge market for social networking and Internet services in India and a bigger opportunity for advertisers to reach out to specific target audiences.”
He further added,
“The categories advertised on Facebook include anything from consumer durables to automobiles to lifestyle or even travel. There is no restriction on the category and the demand is overwhelming.”
Choosing NDTV Media as media partner can prove to be a wise decision. NDTV has rich experience and expertise in the India Media industry. This association ca be fruitful for Microsoft, as NDTV Media, via its TV properties already have the best of advertisers as its clients.
Niraj Dutt, COO, NDTV Media, said,
“We believe that what niche channels did to television, Facebook will do to online. It will bring a fresh new attitude by creating opportunity for associates to ride on it and experience success with this product. We will be offering the right and the best value of this medium. I will dub this as the ‘human touch’ of online,”
Facebook is seeing a growth of around 200% year-on year in India. Although, Orkut is still strong in India, and with the introduction of Orkut applications, recently, it’s gained a better foothold vis-à-vis Facebook, Facebook’s fan-following has been on a rise continuously. And with Microsoft as its Big Daddy, it can be sure to rake in some decent moolah.
