Jobmixi.com

Raising Media India Pvt Ltd, an online media and entertainment company with roots in Hyderabad, India today officially announced the launch of jobmixi.com, a comprehensive and effective job search engine.

Job seekers can now get free and instant access to thousands of employment opportunities from hundreds of sites, which now includes all the job listings from over 1200 corporate websites, major job boards, news papers and several other associations. Over 10,000 new jobs get listed everyday.

The company claims that Jobmixi search algorithm provides the users with most latest and relevant results. The website offers most advanced options wherein the job seekers can search by key word or job title, specific location and experience. For unregistered users Jobmixi offers functionalities such as general and advanced job search, and deliver the same through emails or RSS. Registered user can create a searchable profile and upload resume so that recruiters can contact them directly. In addition, registered users are also provided with the option to save their job search and create job alerts.

The model does not seem to be too different when compared to other job sites. The only notable difference is that one searches according to a profile. This however will not do much because most job sites have their USP as ‘relevant jobs’, ‘high paying jobs’, or ‘many employers available’. In most cases  it’s a healthy mix of the 3 if the job site is successful. It seems like Jobmixi is still in the stage of Database development and it will take them quite a while to compete with the Naukri’s of this World. One wonders if they will be able to compete at all given that the market is extremely competitive and that there is no real differentiation with respect to Jobmixi.

On a positive note – their layout is quite well laid out and clutter free. We wish them luck!

IndyaPulse.com

IndyaPulse.com, as the name suggests, is indeed a website which has the pulse of India encapsulated in it. It is an online web portal service offering a plethora of services for Indians around the world.

They have news, astrology, classifields, travel guides etc. Im not overtly impressed. It seems like another Rediff clone to me. The name also draws obvious comparisons with Indya.com. In addition to that there are no interactive features. It’s quite a static website.

They have an immigration link on their website where they have assembled information related to latest migration laws of countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many more with the sole intention of making life easier for those who aspire to study or immigrate abroad, Word of mouth can make that aspect of the website popular. It’s one differentiating factor although I wonder how long it will last. It’s extremely replicable if found popular.

Rediff is the preferred portal for Indians Abroad. With it’s current features I doubt IndyaPulse will make a dent in the market.

Cliniminds.com

Cliniminds today announced the launch of wide range of Online clinical research training programs in the field of clinical research, through its portal www.cliniminds.com

Dr. Amit Bhatt, President & CEO of Nexus Clinical Research (NexusCRO) who inaugurated these programs said “Online and distance learning programs offered by Cliniminds are of high quality and cost effective. It can address the needs of students from all over the country, as it is not possible for every student to come and attend such programs in bigger cities and pay high fees and very high living costs.” According to Dr. Bhatt, “These programs are also very useful for the continuous clinical research training for the clinical research and pharma professionals at CROs, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals where trials are conducted.”

All Online and distance learning programs offered by Cliniminds are certified and accredited by Pharmaceutical Society of India.

Payments can be made through credit card, debit card or through e-check facility. Cliniminds also offer students payment in easy interest free instalments.

The website appears too cluttered and unappealing but I think this is one venture that is likely to succeed primarily due to the growing acceptance of distance learning and learning through portals. The only concern is that while part time learning through the Internet is getting quite big, one has yet to see full fledged programmes being successfully distributed online.

The advantage that the portal has is probably that the parent company Cliniminds was launched in 2004 and since then has carved out a name for itself company by providing a wide range of clinical research related training solutions to students, pharmaceutical companies, CROs and healthcare companies in India and other parts of the world. It comes with some amount of credibility and recognition in the particular industry.

Sutra HR – A start up to help other Start Ups

This company is essentially a People Consulting firm which has a partnering model with Digital;Mobile and Internet startups and entrepreneurial companies in their quest to find, retain, assess and train talent to take them to the next level.

They essentially help companies find employees who have the right skill sets and also the right values for the corresponding start up.

The company, in a brief time, has notched up an enviable client list that boasts some of the best start up and entrepreneurial companies today, including well known start ups like Zapak.com, Webchutney, Komli Media Pvt Ltd, Burrp.com, and Communicate2.

It’s a good business model because it primarily corrects a market imperfection and satisfies a need. Entrepreneurs often have little time (atleast not as much as they would like) for hiring and recruiting and forming core teams. Some entrepreneurs are lucky, some aren’t. I have to say however, that if the entrepreneur is driven enough, and has the right attitude, and hunger to succeed, then his or her team will probably form automatically. The only problem is that I’m not too sure if too many start-ups would be able to pay too much for ‘head hunting’ services. The company can however scale up to offer other such high value services to clients who might be able to afford it.

Incidentally WATConsult, our sister concern was also conceived to hand hold start ups and gear them for success. That still remains as an integral part of the model.
