Recently 123Greetings had raised a big round of funding and now its putting that money to use by looking at ways to expand its greetings and taking the same from web to mobile. Arvind Kajaria, founder, 123Greetings, said his company was in talks with Handygo.com, the mobile assimilator, to provide 123Greetings original ringtones and wallpapers for downloading on mobile handsets.

And 123greetings isn’t alone International players like E-cards which had first launched a mobile greeting in 2002 are also looking at ways to tap the burgeoning mobile market. Even regional players like Webdunia are looking at distributing greetings through mobile. According to Pankaj Jain, president and CEO of Webdunia, the company is looking at wireless applications so that its e-greetings could be downloaded on JAVA and GPRS-enabled mobile handsets.

On the whole the mobile market itself is set to boomerang and according to Nokia by 2012 there will be 250 million internet capable phones which puts services like greetings on mobile in a very good position in terms of market size in India. Also as mobile is always carried by the person the greetings reciept is instant compared to online where it may be limited to when the person accesses his or her email.
