BidAdda Attracts Women users from Asian Countries
A new trend has been observed on Bigadda.com. A lot of newer members are joining the site from other countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal.
Over the last month it has been observed that a large number of users from the neighboring Asian countries are joining Bigadda and close to 25% are women.
Bigadda seems to be really happy about the fact that 25% of new signups are women. In an ideal scenario one would expect more women to sign up.
It’s important to note that most of the new sign ups aren’t via ‘friend requests’ and BidAdda isn’t doing any mass media advertising in any of those countries. So its probably SEM + BigAdda’s better ‘discoverability’.
So Why are more users signing up to BigAdda from these countries?
- A common cultural thread that runs between these Asian Countries.
- Greater internet penetration in many of these countries. Also in most of these countries such as Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia, girls are far more protected when it comes to getting out of the house so they access social networks to get going with their social lives.
- Another interesting thing to note is that BigAdda has a lot of videos that ‘appeal to men’ in a universal way. That’s probably why men from countries that share a cultural thread with India are signing up.
- Its important to note that Orkut has received a lot of bad press in the last few months and is considered ‘unsafe’
- Facebook, is a little complicated for someone being exposed to the Internet for the 1st time.
Siddhartha Roy, COO, Bigadda.com said, “The trend of women users from Asian countries is likely to grow, as Internet access improves and women find a sense of freedom in airing their views, connecting up with people.”
BigAdda was also featured recently for adding a Big B Celebrity Blog similar to the celebrity blog by Ravi Shastri on ibibo.
