I have a friend working with Google India n he told me tht Orkut is planing to launch a new application for Students planing to study abroad.They are working with Universal Consultancy Services – to introduce a on site application which will help find in-depth information regarding Study Abroad Programs. Hope this will ease-up otherwise laborious study abroad research.

Good that they introduced apps on orkut! But teh present lot looks shabby except for hangman of course!

Ankit, there are loads of things that are happening beneath . Yes your prediction is right coz .. App installation feature is only available for “India” post Estonia’s Launch. As orkut Team is playing safe by giving access to Targeted country so that the opensocial platform rolls out smoothly.

Talking Orkut vs Facebook.. i guess it will take some time as developing apps for Orkut is.. not an easy job as compared to Facebook’s F8 Platform.

A hasty but amart move by Orkut to match the apps roll out date with MySpace India launch date. It will surely dilute the effect of MySpace launch to an extent.

Add to that google appEngine.. where all the hosted applications just need google id to log in. Some smart hacker can write a patch over existing app and pass
All such social applications can be then integrated with orkut(if google decides) and pass orkut user data to and fro
