MySpace, the World’s Second Largest SocialNetwork now according to Alexa is gearing up for its India launch on the 17thof April. MySpace CEO Chis De Wolfe is apparently flying in for the event as well.

With the US Market extremely competitive MySpace is now looking at other markets. It recently had an official launch in Korea. No word yet on their Marketing Strategy for India.

A couple of my friends here who play in  bands already have MySpace pages. Also MySpace is a rage in the US among budding artists who record their songs and put them online. I have a feeling that Indian audiences are yet not ready for a network whose USP is ‘showcasing oftalent’. One of the primary reasons is that there isn’t necessarily a culture of creativity spread among the Indian Youth in the income range of those having computers and Internet access. Moreover we in our country aren’t encouraged to go solo and try different things.

MySpace’s Mobile Strategy for India should be interesting to watch.

  1. MySpace’s Mobile Strategy for India should be interesting to watch.Have you heard of one more Social Network site MOLI whose USP is also ‘showcasing oftalent’which is above 18 only -members can manage multiple profiles- social, business and family relationships, in one account keeping control over their privacy. Members can also set up an e-commerce store and generate interest in your artistic creations, your music or your products and services with help from your social contacts.
