This come in via CS. Qualcomm has announced an investment foray into the Indian Market through Qualcomm ventures – its venture arm. Its first equity investment has been Tessolve Services, a provider of solutions for semiconductor testing, packaging and failure analysis. The size of the investment is yet unknown.

According to CS, the Venture will focus on Indian startups and private companies in the mobile and semiconductor space.

Qualcomm has had some success with respect to its MediaFLO in the international market but it hasn’t really kicked the dust because of lack of operator support in the US and changing regulatory standards for technology in the EU.

Qualcomm  recently announced In – vehicle mobile TV. The technology allows broadcast over the air to an in-vehicle entertainment system. MediaFLO enables a rich mobile multimedia experience comprising high-quality video, audio, data and interactive services. Since the MediaFLO platform employs a dedicated mobile broadcast network, it does not require direct line-of-sight, unlike satellite-based TV transmissions, and video quality and signal strength won’t be compromised in crowded metropolitan areas. Furthermore, the platform has been designed for superior mobile reception and can operate efficiently under normal driving conditions on roads and freeways.
