Tired Of The Bear Run At Stock Market? Go Virtual With MarketHero.in
Well the bear run in stock markets has affected one and all. Just the other day my CA was telling me how IPO’s are the worst affected. No doubt Naukri which was planning another IPO pulled out.
But for those who find the real life stock market heat too much to handle there is an alternative. A new startup on the block is markethero.in which is a gaming portal revolving around the stock market.
Basically its a virtual stock exchange which lets you buy sell shares at real stock price levels with psuedo money. The users can manage a virtual gaming portfolio of Rs 1 million and trade equity stocks, mutual funds and commodities which are backed by real prices from the exchanges.
According to Abhimanyu Chirimar, founder of Markethero, “This is a gaming portal and does not involve any real money or investments from the players. But it certainly helps users to familiarise themselves with trading on stock markets, the BSE and NSE, and could even work as a tutor for stock-broking”
The company plans to have an application built for this website on orkut and facebook. Facebook already has such an application but its based on the US stock market. The indian stock market has a lot of followers and the clear indication of that is a 1 lakh plus active group on orkut around BSE Sensex.
On the monetization front its still early days for MarketHero but I guess advertising will be a good source provided they are able to attract a critical mass that is a sticky one.

Which are much better then market hero which provides 20 minute delayed stale data. I just wonder what is there real revenue source. If its Ads and traffic….forget it.
