Deloitte has come out with its 7th Annual Predictions Report for 2008 on Technology, Media and Telecom.

The technology predictions include the growing importance of digital data protection, a shift to online authenticity resulting from the abuse of anonymity on the Web, the need to find solutions for the industry’s talent scarcity, and the move to protect an individual’s privacy online. While the media predictions include rise, recognition and acceptance of citizen journalists, an attack on online piracy, and the creation of more tangible forms of online music to entice users to pay for digital downloads. While the telecom predictions include launch of the $10 mobile phone, the union of mobile and GPS technologies, and the shift to making telecommunications more accessible to older rather than younger users.

All the three reports are downloadable from here.

I would say many of the above predictions are already in process even in India. If you take the recognition of citizen journalists its something we have WATBlog have experienced more and more PR personnel inviting us for Press Conferences. Similarly with regards to the shift from anonymity to authenticity its not surprising to see that prediction given the rise in nuisance on the web with regards to anonymity being exploited. On the whole though the above report is global in nature it has many key insights for those trying to figure the Indian market.
