Indiagames Tie Up With Popcap For Mobile Distribution Deal

Indiagames which was recently in the news for games on demand in the edutainment space which was in collaboration with Airtel has struck another notworthy deal. It has announced its partnership with the international casual gaming company PopCap Games for distributing key titles from PopCap’s catalogue of games on the mobile platform in India.

Indiagames will exclusively distribute games like Bookworm and Chuzzle in India. The games will be available for download with telecom operators across India. On the tieup Indiagames COO Samir Bangara had this to say, “Our partnership with PopCap Games is in tune with our policy of making available the best mobile gaming content to the Indian consumer. We believe that titles like Bookworm and Chuzzle which appeal to a wide audience will be equally popular with mobile gamers in India”.

Internationally mobile gaming is picking up and that also in the entertainment space. Companies like Sony Pictures Television (SPT) had announced a six new mobile games to be released in 2008 at the CTIA convention in Las Vegas while VH1 is soon launching a mobile game based on the on-air series Flavor of Love. Even closer to home mobile games on movies and filmstars have been launched regularly. Like recently a 3d mobile game on Neetu Chandra was launched.

It is very evident that internationally and now even in India mobile gaming seems to be picking up very quickly and Popcaps entry via Indiagames into the Indian market is a sign of confirmation of that fact.
