Jobsites have been quiet these days as there as hardly been any update on the jobsite front since sometime. It seems like after all the “I own the largest database” jobsites have figured that making more revenue makes more sense than making such tall claims.
Also Jobsites seems to be focussing more on the offline aspect of building as much branding through job fairs. But just yesterday I came across two stories on jobsites which were relevant enough to club into this one post as a jobsite update.
Jobstreet which is a part of Web18 has launched a new feature by which a user can sms his/her resume. A jobseeker who is registered with jobstreet.com can just type APPLY on their mobile phone followed by the email id of a recruiter or an email listed in a newspaper job advertisement or career site of a company and send it to 52622. The sms service will recognise the mobile number as a registered user of jobstreet and email their resume from jobstreet’s database to the company you applied to. I had earlier come across such a site called smsresume.com which also followed the same feature though it did not take off.
The jobsite space is one that is saturated with large players with tonnes of money backing them and also with most of them having 100’s of jobs under one category. In such a scenario things like user friendliness do become very important wherein the users comfort and delight in using the web service is of prime importance. We had earlier discussed the juxtconsult report which had awarded rediff and cleartrip the most user friendly sites in their respective category. The same report has also awarded Clickjobs as the most user friendly jobsite. Clickjobs is a part of Consim Info and even though it was one of a later entrants in the Jobsite market it has done well to be awarded with this title.
