Yahoo Adds Voice Enabled Search On Mobiles

Recently we had blogged about how Google had launched google search for windows mobile phones. Now Yahoo has gone ahead and taken the competition to google by launching an innovative feature to its onesearch service for mobiles. Yahoo has launched voice commands for mobile search. Also its not the simple voice commands as it goes beyond existing mobile voice recognition systems or 411-based services that are structured into simple categories, such as “local listings.”

According to this article conventional speech recognition services limit potential search topics to certain items using very basic vocabulary. OneSearch allows “wide open” searches for flight listings, locations, Web site names, restaurants, news or game times. Yahoo voice search also allows users to switch between typing and voice search at any time, and offers alternative suggestions for similar sounding words.
The battle for the hand held screen seems to be getting bitter by the day. With Google, Yahoo and Microsoft all on a level playing field as far as the nascent web on mobile market is concerned world over It will be one tough battle to watch for. All in all the users will be the real beneficiary.
