IPL Teams Launch Websites - DelhiDaredevils Clash With KolkataKnightRiders

Two IPL teams launched their team’s official websites yesterday. Delhi and Kolkata Teams known as Delhi Daredevils and Knolkata KnightRiders launched their respective websites known as delhidaredevils.com and kolkataknightriders.com. While the delhi daredevils team is backed GMR the infrastructure company. Kolkata as most IPL followers would know is backed by none other than Shahrukh Khan.
A look at both their websites shows a simmering competition not ony between the teams but also the creative agencies handling the websites. So if the daredevils website is designed by Arc World Wide (which has Karl Gomes who was from tribalDDB earlier heading it Creative Team) the knight riders website has been done by BCWebwise. Both the websites have an overdose of flash (something that Im not too fond of..) and take enough time so that you can make yourself coffee before they load completely.

Another highlight of these announcements was the fact that the delhi team would be backed by Akshay Kumar. This news does put the countries biggest stars (SRK And Akshay in terms of box office success) against each other in IPL. I feel this IPL battle will be hard fought not only offline but online as well. I expect some fireworks and some interesting online campaigns, virals to come out of this exercise. Im not sure if sharukh will make any money.. But Im sure that the digital marketing world would surely benefit with more money being pumped into the internet and mobile.

I think that IPL should also globolise cricket while playing in european countries to make the game sucessful.They should advance the soprts where cricket is not played. after playing in India the next season they should play in Australia,Newzeland,South Africa or any other country to make IPL more successful.They must make IPL famous like FOOTBALL is famous in whole WORLD
