Business Standard Launches Hindi Website
Email It!

Months after launching the Hindi version of its popular business newspaper, Business Standard has launched a Hindi news website. Called BShindi.com, the site offers business news from stock market, about companies, investment and economy from Business Standard. It also sources news from agencies like Reuters, Bloomberg and PTI. The site also has a section for regional business news covering areas like Lucknow, Bhopal, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
Arun Natesh, head, marketing, Business Standard says,
“The idea behind launching a Hindi website is to make Hindi business news available through every possible medium. Many business owners in India access the Internet to get trading related information and a lot of them are more comfortable getting the information in Hindi as compared to English.”
The content on the website will be free. And the registered users will be able to access the older issues in Hindi and English.
Natash further adds,
“Currently, the site is in a preliminary stage and pushing content, but a lot of changes will be made in the near future. Live News and Live Stock Market Feed will be added very soon. We have plans to introduce financial tools which will help users calculate tax and manage their portfolio and finances. User generated content through blogs will also be introduced, but this will happen only when issues related to typing Hindi fonts are resolved. A Hindi e-paper and newsletter will also be made available to the users.”
The marketing efforts for the new website have already started. The complete marketing will be handled by the in-house team. The print advertisements have already started to appear in Business Standard and its English website. Additionally, there will be banner ads put on websites like Webdunia.com and a TV Commercial and OOH campaigned will be rolled out soon.
A large part of India’s population lives in villages. Many of them are uncomfortable with the English as a primary language. It is important that the benefits of the digital progress should benefit them. And delivering content in the regional languages definitely helps this.
Few weeks ago, Webdunia.com launched its TV Commercial following the relaunch of its website, which offers content in Hindi. The marketing effort was necessary to create awareness about the presence of the website. With BShindi.com, I see hope trend will continue and we will be seeing a lot many regional content websites coming up.

hii Ankit….
Do u really feel the future of websites in regional languages is great…..well I differ to that coz it would again access from only those people who know that language and not the entire world……

How do you connect to a farmer living in a village called Khandauli in remote Uttar Pradesh. En English website? It HAS to be Hindi, dude.
And that is NOT meant to be global , man. It is meant to be used by those specific community. The target audience is highly targeted.
So, if I make a website that provides real time data about the commodity prices and bargain rates of different retail chains, it is NOT meant to be viewed by a software engineering sitting in California.
Anyways, nice to see your comment.
