SMS Advertising Player MGinger To Go Regional

Well everybody in the WAT (Web, Advertising Technology) Space seems to be going regional so whether its web portals, im chat, search engines or mobile players everyone is after that regional customer down south. The next one to soon join the foray into the “we are regional” gang is MGinger the sms advertising company that we’ve covered before.
Not too long ago Mginger got funded fo 2 million dollars by VC’s like NEA and DFJ and there were a plethora of me too sms advertising solutions players that sprung up in a short while. But besides for mginger there were few who raised that kind of capital. Now sms advertising has its critics where its effectiveness has been challenged given that an sms can be opened and deleted even before a person reads it. Infact it can be deleted even with opening in many phones now. As unlike the web one cannot know how long did the user spend on reading the message (On the web on can know how long one stayed on a site).
But despite these concerns Mginger founder seems very positive about the future and hence is looking to add regional language capability. He’s quoted in this article as saying “The new strategy is to help our advertisers reach out to their target customers better. We have been receiving enquiries from apparel store chains such as Chandana Brothers in Andhra Pradesh besides stores in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. We are in the process of developing an in-house text messaging application to support regional languages. We plan to expand our subscriber base to include regional language users in Telugu and Hindi to start with,”
Besides for the regional play Mginger also seems to be expanding its reach according to Chaitanya Mginger will soon opne offices in Delhi and Chennai to increase its sales network.On the revenue front MGinger has grossed 50 lakhs last quarter based on 3 million messages that were sent. It expects to send more than 8 million smses this quarter thereby taking the revenue to approximated 1.2 crores.

cool, whenever they ask a ques on weekend shopping plans, those bunch of guys who wanna earn some bucks using there mobile will declare full shopping plans, anticipating to recieve some ads n then make some money.!!
